Forged In Flames – An Oral History of the Labor Day Wildfires

KUT has put together this Oral history of the 2011 Labor Day wildfires in Central Texas and has a dedicated site for it. http://kut.org/forged-in-flames/

At the website, you can listen to a one hour special on the Central Texas Fires one year ago and you can also read personal stories. There is also an event Monday evening, September 10 at 6pm at the KUT studios: Forged in Flames: An Oral History of the Labor Day Wildfires

September 4, 2011
Central Texas was a fire: suburban neighborhoods abutting drought sticken green spaces had provided the perfect tinder – even the smallest spark could quick burn out of control. And on this day it had from Steiner Ranch to Delhi, Spicewood to Bastrop. These are the stories of Central Texans who lived through the Labor Day Wildfires. On Monday, Sept. 10, KUT will host a free community forum at 6 p.m. in Studio 1A at the KUT Public Media Studios.
